Frequently asked
Questions about SSR (sprayless scratch repair)
"How
long does it take to do a normal job?"
We did the hood and bumper on the car in less than 30 minutes - keep
in mind we were talking alot and visiting with the dealer during the
process.
"By looking at the "before and after" pictures, it
doesn't look like the touch up paint being used ever has metallic it
in."
Those pics are terrible quality, they do have the metallics as
prescribed in the matching paint formulas.
"Are there any "magic potions" like thickening
agents or some other shrinkage solutions?"
There are two additives in the premixed paint, then you add an
activator. The paint looked good in the chips on the green metallic
- there was some shrinkage I'd say first pass was close to 80%
filled, then if you want more on the bigger ones just re-do those.
"Is the compound anything special or just relabeled 3M or
something?"
The compound is said to be the a key ingredient for the results.
Heat from the buffing helps to cure the paint and make it permanent.
The chemicals in the compound react to the chemicals added to the
paints.
"Does
this SSR starter system have the activators?"
Yes, the starter system
comes with all you need to perform scratch repair.
